Line Critique

I like and dislike my line photos.  my favorite out of the two is the photo with the pawns.  I like how I'm focused on one pawn and the rest slowly blur out of focus.  I think my photo of the guitar is a boring line shot.  If I could redo it, I would put the guitar in a stand and have it lead to a case on the ground.  I do like it because the white of the guitar pops off of the boy holding it.

Lines in Photography

This photo is using the lines of a bridge to take your eyes directly to the subject.  I like this photo because of the sunset behind the subject and the way the lines lead you to him.

I like this photo because the lines on the houses and cars take you on a journey through the street.  I also like how the photo starts at the beginning and gradually moves farther and farther until you reach the end of the photo.

This photo utilizing lines is appealing to me beacause the lines instantly take you to the man on the bench.  I also like how the photo uses lines and shallow depth of field at the same time.

This photo uses the fence posts as lines that lead you to the lighthouse at the back of the photo.  This is intersting to me beacause the fence blurs into a continuous line.

This picture is appealing to me because it is fun and bright.  I like how the circular lines slowly spiral down around the person.

Depth of Field Critique

I am happy with my depth of field assignment.  I feel each picture is a clear example of great and shallow depth.  In my photo of Barnes and Noble I would have added a subject to be a focus in the picture instead of just the building.  I wouldn't change anything in my example of shallow depth.  I like how I focus on one particular animal and there are more behind it.

Shallow and Great Depth of Field

The photos below display shallow depth and great depth of field.  I made inferences on what the aperature value could be for each photo.

These Coke bottles are showing shallow depth of field.  The aperature would have to be large and the photographer is moved in close to the subject.

These tasty dishes were also photographed with a shallow depth of field.  The photographer was moved in close to the subject, and used a wide aperature as well.

The phtographer who took this photo also utilized shallow depth of field.  The aperature was large too.

This mountain range was photographed using great depth of field.  The photographer was far away from the subject and had his camera set to a small aperature.

This photograph was taken with a small aperature as well.  The photographer captured the sky, plains, and trees in this photo by being far away from the subject.

These trees demonstrate great depth because all of the trees are focused.  the photographer was a ways back from  the trees and had a small aperature.

Stop Action and Motion Blur Critique

This is my stop action photo.  I am not a big fan of it because I'm not focused on the legs of my subject.  To improve the photo i could have used a filter darken the blacks, and I could have dodged and burned so the subject pops out.

This is my motion blur photo.  I like this photo because I capture all the movement of the subject swinging the baseball bat.  However, to improve this photo I would add a ilter so it's less grey.

Frozen and Blurred Movement

These photos display frozen and blurred movement.  I made educated guesses on what the shutter speed could be for each photo.

This photo would have a fast shutter speed, such as 1/1000, to capture the water mid air.

These children jumping were also photographed with a relatively high shutter speed.  it could be anywhere from 1/500 to 1/2000.

This Penn State volleyball player was photographed with a fast shutter speed as well.

These children were photographed with a slow shutter speed to capture the movment of others around them.

These bowling balls were also photographed with a slow shutter speed, such as 1/30.

This photograph was taken with a slow shutter speed as well.  The subect is still clear, but the twirling umbrella's movement is captured.

New Ideas

This photo is apealing to me because it shows how adorable kids are.  The little girl is showing curiosity and enjoying her time playing in mud.  I could use this idea by showing something without revealing the subject's face.  When recreating ideas from this picture I could have a little girl in a field picking flowers, or have the subject walking into a sunset.

House Map

This is a map of my house.  A few interesting things Iwould photograph would be the decorative items placed in the living room.  Such as a giraffe and elephant.  I would also take photos of the china in the china cabinet.  other interesting shots would be of the light coming into the dining room and hitting the flowers on the table.

Childhood Fun

This photo shows the infamous childhood imagination.  This young boy is posed as a pirate, ready to take defeat his enemies.  The words childhood fun explain this picture best because the boy is showing his excitement at creating new adventures.  This photo is demonstrating shallow depth of field, and is focused on the aspiring pirate.  The boy also has his hand on his sword preparing to make an attack, which brings your eye to its attention.  There is also another boy to the right of the photo.
